Brackett collection include his manuscript for Granite and Sagebrush and the History of Pomona Valley; documents about the Belgium Relief Fund; his students' papers, tests, and homework with the syllabi for the classes he taught at Pomona College; pamphlets written by and about Professor Brackett and the Brackett observatory; meteorological, weather, and sun observations recorded for the U.S. Weather Bureau at the Brackett Observatory on the Pomona College campus; maps; and catalogs for astronomical equipment; 52 wood blocks used for an article about astronomy observations.

Dr. Frank Parkhurst Brackett was born in Provincetown, Mass. in 1865. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1887. Soon after he graduated he moved to California. In 1887, he taught at the McPherron Academy for boys in Los Angeles. In 1889 he married Lucretia Burdick in Pomona, California. Fletcher G. Watson (1912-1997) was both an astronomer and an expert in science education. He was a professor at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, where he worked to improve standards for teaching science and for preparing science teachers.
